Minister Premajayantha delivered a lecture on 'Post Tsunami Sri Lanka - Rebuilding for Today' and Education Reform for Tomorrow at the University of Melbourne on Friday.

Sri Lankan students and academics of the University of Melbourne gave a warm welcome to the Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha.

A large number of the Sri Lankan community were present on this occasion. Also associated with the Minister were Kusumsiri Balapatabendi Sri Lankan High Commissioner, in Australia. Minister Susil Premajayantha was among the 27 Ministers who represented Asia Pacific Ministers' meeting held on 4th April, at the exhibition and convention center, Brisbane. Addressing the Melbourne gathering he assured the Sri Lankans that he will implement the pledges given by Mahinda Rajapaksa in the Mahinda Chinthana in respect of the education of Sri Lanka.

"My aim is to give equal opportunities in education for all Sri Lankans. I am really happy to state that my discussions with the Minister of Education, Technical and Vocational Education of Brisbane, Garry Hardgrev was very fruitful and successful and Australia assured to help Sri Lankan education by sending their personnel to train our youth in Sri Lanka in skilled education", stated Susil Premajayantha.

Kusumsiri Balapatabendi High Commissioner in Australia stated that he was always available and prepared to help Sri Lankan students, and Sri Lankan community. I am very happy that an educated person like Susil Premajayantha is guiding the destinies of Sri Lanka's education today. I knew him closely as a lawyer and he was a colleague of mine.

Professor Priyan Mendis of the University of Melbourne and a few others also addressed the gathering.
