Minister initiates UK business ventures for Lanka |

TALKS: Minister Rohitha Bogollagama said over 150 British companies took part at the round-table discussion and Sri Lanka was able to attract major British investors to set up more business here at the Sri Lanka Investment Round-table which was organised by the Board Of Investment (BOI) in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat, National Outsourcing Association (NOA) and Sri Lankan High Commission in London, writes Irangika Range, Daily News 290606 at http://www.dailynews.lk/

Most of companies including 25 Sri Lankan participants have been achieved many accolades.
The program was followed by one to one meetings with British and Sri Lankan companies led by Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion Rohitha Bogollagama, Chairman and Director General Of BOI Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala and Export Development Board Chairman (EDB) Brian Angunawala.
One of the first projects to take off the ground would be Grange Hotels project which would be set up at Ratgama in Galle with an investment of Rs. 350 million.
He said that discussions were also held with Marks and Spencer to establish logistics hub in Sri Lanka allowing them to purchase US$ 500 million worth of garments.
He said The Clarkson Knitting Company would set up a venture for the manufacture of knit fabric. Logica CMG will be setting up a new IT business-outsourcing project.
Chairman and Director General of BOI Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala said that the feedback received by the BOI regarding the round-table and the potential of Sri Lanka as a destination for investment was extremely positive. The exhibition also provided a good platform for tsunami recovery business to get into the London market.
