The GA was speaking at the handing over of ten houses to tsunami - displaced families at Kitulawa, Lagoswatta, Kalutara by first Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.
 
The total housing requirement of 'tsunami displaced is 8,000. The massive donor assistance led to the fulfilment of this requirement, he said.
 
This housing scheme consisting of 10 houses was funded by the Nalanda Vidyalaya Old Boys' Association on the request of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, a distinguished Old Boy of the College who was then Prime Minister.
 
Foreign Employment Promotion Minister and Telecommunication Deputy Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena said President Mahinda Rajapaksa as then Prime Minister was able to observe the disaster caused to the people living in the coastal belt in Kalutara and its environs within 24 hours of the incident.

The Pansil was administered by an old Nalandian Ven. Kuppiyawatta Bodhananda Thera.
