This part of the site is a forum for signatories to contact one another and discuss and exchange information on their knowledge of disaster recovery experiences after completing the login form on the left. Please ensure that your details are correct and up-to-date.
After successful login, go to the Network Forum to see news and comment posted by signatories and to post your contribution.
A key task of the Network is to track progress in the rehabilitation and reconstruction process in relation to the Statement of Principles. It aims to praise and disseminate approaches which are consistent with our principles and discourage those which are not.
Please focus your news and comment on these principles and on the practical issues listed in the Statement:
Is early attention being given to the medium and long term reconstruction and replanning of settlements in disaster areas? Are plans, satellite images and other information needed being made readily available to all those involved in reconstruction and development in affected areas? Are government efforts concentrating on rebuilding major infrastructure systems such as roads, bridges, railways, harbours and public services? Are measures being taken to minimize the impact of future disasters, including reinforcing natural boundaries, such as forestry, mangroves, coral reefs, flood plains, lagoons and the dissemination of knowledge of risk including those of storm, earthquake and landslip? Is the capability of local governments, professionals and academic institutions being strengthened, including training in working with communities? Are self-help construction methods that utilize local skills and resources, including recycled building debris, being used?
