Abeygunawardhana said the Government had been able to provide housing facilities for more than 90 per cent of the tsunami affected families in the Kalutara district.

The government is extremely thankful to the foreign countries, voluntary organisations and individuals who had funded these projects, the Minister said.

The Batala Araliyawatta housing scheme was built by the Irene Sri Lanka Trust organisation at a cost of Rs. 10 million.

A special feature was that each house is fully equipped with furniture and other effects.
