The Disaster Relief Trust Fund set up with the support of the People’s Bank, Independent Television Network (ITN) and Lakhanda has donated Rs. 600,000 to the Sahanoda Foundation to help children who lost their parents in the December 26, 2004 tsunami catastrophe, writes Daily News 211207 at http://www.dailynews.lk/.

The money donated will be utilised to provide schoolbooks and other requirements of the students.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa handed over the cheque to Ven. Haputale Pagnarama Thera last morning at the Presidential Secretariat, Colombo.

In an earlier occasion, the Disaster Relief Trust Fund had donated furniture and requirements needed for the kitchen to families who received new houses built by the Government and Non-Governmental Organisations.

People’s Bank Chairman W. Karunajeewa, General Manager Asoka de Silva, ITN Chairman Anura Siriwardena and Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. P. B. Jayasundara were also present.
