Work on largest fishery harbour to commence soon |

The largest fishery harbour in Sri Lanka will be built in Dikowita, Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Felix Perera said that construction work would commence within three months and it is anticipated to complete the project by 2009", writes Imantha Caldera, Daily News, 100208 at http://www.sundayobserver.lk/. He was speaking at a ceremony to distribute 300 crates worth Rs. 3,500 each among the Gampaha District fisher-mongers.
The fishery harbour will be on 13 hectares. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 7,200 Million with financial assistance from the government of the Netherlands.
Of the 12 fishery harbours in the island, 10 were damaged by the tsunami. The Galle, Kirinda, Tangalle and Trincomalee fishery harbours were repaired and reopened for operations.
