The DFDN is a network of professionals, activists and academics committed to enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of recovery after disasters. It aims to improve the development of affected people’s lives, livelihoods and settlements to be better than it was before the disaster that hit them. A concerted multi-disciplinary approach is needed to address the medium and long term challenges of the sustainable rebuilding of lives and settlements.

Monsoon rains killed 18 in Karnataka: CM PDF Print E-mail

Eighteen people were killed in the recent rains and flood-related incidents in Karnataka, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said today, writes Press Trust of India (PTI), Bangalore, Aug 15 2008 at http://www.ptinews.com.

District authorities were directed to submit a report on the extent of damage, after which the state government would decide on seeking assistance from the Centre, he told reporters here.

Rs 100 crore was available with district authorities to deal with the situation he said adding an additional Rs 40 crore has also been provided.
