Tsunami relief distribution has not come to standstill |

A Cabinet approval has been sought to pay Rs. 5000 to those who have not so far received that allowance, the Minister added.
He was speaking at the handing over of 16 houses to tsunami victim families in the Hikkaduwa Divisional Secretariat Division.
The Florida State Buddhist Temples Foundation of the USA completed the construction work of these houses.
This was under the first stage of the Tsunami Relief Housing Programme to provide new houses to 1800 families of the Hikkaduwa Divisional Secretariat Division, who lost dwellings due to the tsunami. Each of these houses is estimates to cost approximately Rs. 600,000.
The Programme implemented under the President's directive includes the construction of 568 houses in the Monrovia Estate, 694 houses in Galagodawatta Estate, 194 houses in Sirikandura Estate, 75 houses in Jayasekera Watta, 40 houses in Sadhanagoda Watta, 28 houses in Ratanasara Watta and 110 houses in Thuduwegodawela Watta.
A large number of Buddhist devotees representing the Florida Buddhist Temples Foundation, members of beneficiary families and the people of the area attended the occasion.
SLFP Ratgama Organiser Mohan P. De Silva was also present.
