Developments were effected to the Vishanu Maha Vidyalaya in Periyanilawane in the Kalmunai Divisional Secretariat Division, the Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya in the Pottuvil Divisional Secretariat area and the Batticaloa Vipulananda Tamil Vidyalaya.

Chief Organiser of the GMSL Suranjan Kodituwakku told the Daily News that the movement was able to construct two semi-permanent classrooms and a Library to the Vishnu Vidyalaya and a security fence around the Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya.

Three private firms in Denmark provided financial assistance for the project. The Turunu Mihisaraniya, the Green movement's youth front assisted with the construction work.

The GMSL also provided two semi-permanent classrooms to the Batticaloa Vipulananda Tamil Vidyalaya with Norwegian community participation.

In addition to the above, the GMSL was able to provide houses to several tsunami displaced families and handed over fishing gear and implements to the fisher community affected by the tsunami in the Ampara District.
