The country needs some sort of a mechanism to co-ordinate tsunami reconstruction in the uncleared areas in the North and East, TAFREN Chairman Mano Tittawella addressing reporters at a routine media briefing at Savsiripaya said yesterday. "It is the duty of the politicians to propose an acceptable mechanism, a joint mechanism or otherwise, to ensure proper aid flow to the uncleared areas," he said, adding that such a mechanism will help government agents in those areas to channel assistance to the affected people without a problem, writes Manjula Fernando 290405, The Daily News at http://www.dailynews.lk/

"My personal opinion is that some sort of a mechanism should be put in place for the smooth implementation of reconstruction projects which involve more planing than in the relief phase," he said.
Jaffna GA K. Ganesh endorsed his statement adding that he was also of the view that a special mechanism would ensure equal distribution of donor assistance to uncleared areas as well as others.
"There were no differences of opinions in the immediate humanitarian stage," he expressed adding that it would serve their aim to help the tsunami victims to the best of their ability.
Tittawella categorically denied allegations by the Opposition Leader that Rs.1 million from tsunami funds has gone missing. He said the donors have very stringent procedures for procurement of funds, which are not directly given to TAFREN or the Government.
