New body for tsunami reconstruction |

A special institution has been established by President Mahinda Rajapakse to re-activate tsunami reconstruction, the Office of the President said yesterday, writes Daily News 021205 at http://www.dailynews.lk/

This new institution was set up by amalgamating TAFREN, TAFOR and TAFLOL. This institution will review the progress of reconstruction in tsunami-hit districts and carry out work more effectively and efficiently.
The institution, headed by Tiran Alles, comprises four members - two each from the Finance Ministry and the Foreign Ministry. It will be instituted as the Authority of Reconstruction and Development by an Act of Parliament.
